Salmon price continues to fall

After touching the NOK 80s two weeks ago, the spot price of market-influencing Norwegian salmon is back in the low 70s.

According to sector statistics provider Akvafakta, the spot price of Norwegian farmed salmon decreased by NOK 5.38 (£0.43) per kilo last week (week 20), down to NOK 72.56 (£6.08) per kilo.

This is a price that is almost NOK 1 below the price in the same week last year.

The average spot price so far this year is NOK 83.44/kg, compared to the equivalent of NOK 86.85 in 2025.

Exports

After setting an "all time high" for salmon exports for the first half of the year in week 19 (32,764 tonnes round weight), volumes dropped to 29,616 tonnes (round weight) in week 20, according to Norwegian Seafood Council statistics.

This is approximately 2% below the same week a year ago.

So far this year, Norway has exported 541,000 tonnes of salmon (round weight), which is approximately 5% more than in the corresponding period in 2025.

Feed

As of week 17, 573,000 tonnes of salmon and trout feed have been sold, which is 1% more than at the same time last year.

The trend for the last four weeks (weeks 14-17) is 2% up from last year.

Cod

According to the Seafood Council, 345 tonnes (round weight) of farmed cod were exported in week 20.

That's 5% more than the week before and 12% more than the same week last year.

Total volume for the year so far is 5,857 tonnes (round weight), down 12% from the same period a year ago.

The price received for farmed cod was NOK 74.09/kg, which is down NOK 4.24/kg from the previous week.

The average price so far this year is NOK 74.59/kg, which is 13% better than what had been achieved over the same period in 2025.
