Several NOK down for the salmon price
There are no signs of a heatwave in the spot price market for salmon. It is behaving like the summer weather in Western Norway. The volume, on the other hand, is in autumn form.
According to Akvafakta, the spot price of salmon fell by NOK 2.82/kg, down to NOK 63.43/kg in week 26.
That is a price 76 øre below the same week last year. It is also the lowest spot price so far this year.
The average spot price so far in 2026 is NOK 79.86/kg, compared with NOK 82.77/kg in the same period in 2025.
Export
According to the Norwegian Seafood Council, 37 297 tonnes (round weight) of salmon were exported in week 26. This is the highest weekly volume of the year, the highest ever in the first quarter, and a volume one would normally only see much later in the autumn.
That is 19% more than in the same week last year, and almost 4% up from the previous week.
So far this year, 736 thousand tonnes have been exported, approximately 6% more than at the same time a year ago.
Cod
279 tonnes (round weight) of farmed cod were exported in week 26.
That is a weekly volume 17% lower than the previous week, but 68% higher than in the same week last year.
So far this year, 7,503 tonnes (round weight) of farmed cod have been exported, 6% less than at the same time in 2025.
The price achieved last week was NOK 81.79/kg, down NOK 1.48/kg from the week before, and up NOK 14.56/kg from the same week last year.
The average price so far is NOK 75.30/kg, compared with NOK 66.62/kg a year ago.
