Chile's salmon export volume rose by 15.5% in first half of 2026

The volume of Chilean salmon exports increased by 15.5% to 441,000 tonnes in the first half of 2026, state Customs figures show.
The exports were worth US $3.506 billion, a 7.3% increase compared to the $3.266bn made on an export volume of 382,000 tonnes in the first half of last year, indicating that producers achieved a lower price per kilo.
Exports to the Chilean sector’s biggest customer, the United States, rose from 118,800 tonnes worth £1.326bn in H1 2025 to 133,600 tonnes worth $1.356bn.
The second-largest market remained Brazil, which bought 85,945 tonnes worth $519m, up from 74,910 tonnes worth $473m in H1 last year.
Big increase to China
There were also increases in exports to Japan, which bought 72,612 tonnes worth $558m in H1, up from 68,00 tonnes worth $473m in the first half of 2025.
Chilean salmon exports to China more than doubled in the first six months of this year, reaching 26,355 tonnes worth $157m, up from the 11,770 tonnes worth $78m exported in H1 last year.
Exports to Russia fell from 22,700 tonnes worth $169m in H1 2025 to 14,400 tonnes worth $94m.
Exports to Mexico rose to 11,500 tonnes worth $113m, from 9,309 tonnes worth $98m in the first six months of last year.
