Marine Harvest decides on Chile’s managing director

Kate Casey  “Jiménez is part of the Marine Harvest family ever since the company acquired Delifish in 2006,” states the press communication from Marine Harvest. The smoked salmon company Delifish, founded by Álvaro Jiménez over ten years ago was bought out by Fjord Seafood in 2006, which in turn became a part of Marine Harvest in 2007. Throughout the Marine Harvest-Fjord Seafood merge, Álvaro Jiménez was designated as operations manager of smoked and value-added products for the company. In April however with the unexpected news of Torben Petersen’s resignation as Marine Harvest Chile’s managing director, Álvaro Jiménez was assigned as the temporary manager of the company. “In the process of change that is currently taking place in Marine Harvest Chile, Álvaro Jiménez has demonstrated a great capacity in executing the operational restructuring plan for the company,” states the press communication disseminated by Aqua.cl.In addition, Marine Harvest ASA communicates that it is extending its contract with Aker Seafood ASA for more than 5.8 million in shares (at NOK 48.34 per share), equating to a 15% participation in the company. The contract will expire in June of 2009.
