A leap for the salmon spot price
Despite cool outdoor temperatures, the price of Norwegian farmed salmon made an unprecedented spring bounce last week.
According to statistics provider Akvafakta, the price of market-influencing Norwegian salmon increased by NOK 7.81 (£0.62) per kilo last week (week 18) from the previous week, up to NOK 80.52 (£6.36) per kilo.
This price is NOK 13.51/kg higher than the same week last year.
So far this year, the average salmon price is NOK 84.35/kg, compared to NOK 88.68/kg in the same period last year.
Exports
According to Statistics Norway, 26,521 tonnes (round weight) of salmon were exported in week 18, 6.2% more than the same week in 2025.
So far this year, Norway has exported 426,000 tonnes of salmon (round weight), which is 5.1% more than in the corresponding period a year ago.
Feed
As of week 17, 573,000 tonnes of salmon and trout feed have been sold, 1% more than the same period last year.
The trend for the last four weeks (weeks 14-17) is 2% up from the same weeks last year.
Cod
According to the Norwegian Seafood Council, 252 tonnes of farmed cod (round weight) were exported at a price of NOK 81.78/kg in week 18.
That price is 7% lower than the week before, but exactly the same as the same week in 2025.
So far this year, 4,211 tonnes (round weight) of farmed cod have been exported at an average price of NOK 74.90/kg, which is 15% down in volume and 15% up in price compared to the same period last year.
