Aqua-Spark hires Katherine Bryar for aquaculture's 'demanding next phase'
Former BioMar marketing director joins impact investment fund
Sustainable aquaculture impact investment fund Aqua-Spark has announced the appointment of former BioMar global marketing director Katherine Bryar as director of strategic partnerships.
Netherlands-based Aqua-Spark said Bryar’s appointment comes as sustainable aquaculture enters a more complex and demanding phase that calls for discipline, deep industry knowledge, and closer collaboration across the value chain.
Bringing Bryar into Aqua-Spark team reflects its focus of drawing on deep industry expertise to strengthen the partnerships and relationships that will matter most in the years ahead.
Long-term commitment
“I’ve spent my career working across the aquaculture value chain, and what stands out about Aqua-Spark is its long-term commitment to the operators and ecosystems doing the real work,” said Bryar.
“Connecting capital to that work, thoughtfully and patiently, is exactly where I want to be focused. I’m excited to join the team at such a pivotal time for the industry.”
Bryar brings extensive experience and understanding of the farmer perspective, having held leadership roles across aquaculture - most recently at aquafeed producer BioMar. Aqua-Spark said Bryar has a proven ability to connect stakeholders across the supply chain, from producers and processors to investors, tech ventures, and policy leaders.
An integrated approach
“Katherine’s integrated approach and deep focus on relationships are deeply aligned with how we operate and what we believe sustainable aquaculture needs at this inflection point,” says Amy Novogratz, co-founder of Aqua-Spark.
“As the industry enters its next phase of growth and transformation, we are excited to work alongside her.”
In her new role, Bryar will focus on strengthening collaboration among farmers, technology providers, processors, investors, and other key industry players, ensuring innovation translates into practical impact and meaningful industry progress.
Aqua-Spark said it remains focused on transforming aquaculture by investing in companies that improve the sustainability, efficiency, and resilience of one of the world’s most vital global food systems.
