Salmon prices still rising despite Norway's near-record export volumes
It was the fifth consecutive week of price increases last week, and the second-highest export tonnage ever
The spot price for market-influencing Norwegian farmed salmon rose by NOK 0.64/kg last week (week 32) to NOK 70.99/kg. That price that is NOK 15.94/kg higher than the same week in 2025.
The average spot price so far this year is NOK 77.41 NOK/kg, compared to NOK 78.34 for the same period last year.
Exports
According to sector statistics provider Akvafakta, Norway exported 39,235 tonnes of salmon (round weight) in week 32. This is 10.5% more than the same week a year ago and the second highest weekly export volume ever, after week 39 in 2024, when 40,041 tonnes were exported.
So far this year, Norway has exported 959,566 tonnes of salmon, 4.8% more than the same period in 2025.
Cod
According to the Norwegian Seafood Council, 352 tonnes (round weight) of farmed cod were exported in week 32, down 12% from the previous week, but almost twice as much as in week 32 last year.
So far this year, exports have totalled 9,557 tonnes, approximately 6% more than in 2025 at the same time.
The Seafood Council's statistics show that farmed cod was exported for NOK 84.56/kg, which was NOK 4.4/kg more than the week before, and NOK 14/kg more than the same week a year ago.
The average price for farmed cod so far this year is NOK 77.38/kg, compared to NOK 67.19/kg in the same period in 2025.
