Fish farming supplier Redox adds Filtra to group
Norway-based Redox AS has entered into an agreement to acquire Filtra AS, which delivers water and air purification solutions to the aquaculture and maritime industries as well as onshore industrial applications.
Redox supplies oxygen and water treatment systems that contribute towards improving fish welfare and biosecurity in the fish farming industry, while reducing the use of chemicals. The company said the acquisition of Filtra reinforces its core water treatment competence and contributes towards strengthening its technology and solutions for water filtration and purification.
“Filtra is a unique centre of excellence for filtration solutions. The company has extensive experience in the treatment of air, water and fluids, with a strong focus on delivering future‑oriented solutions,” Redox chief executive Asbjørn Skaro said in a press release.
“Bringing Filtra into the Redox family enables us to offer fish farmers, the maritime sector and other industries an even more comprehensive portfolio of products and services.”
Water, fluids and air
Filtra supplies products and solutions for the treatment of air, water and other fluids. Within the maritime sector and the aquaculture industry, Filtra delivers a wide range of solutions for particle removal and neutralisation of bacteria and other microorganisms, including UV disinfection of intake water for land‑based aquaculture facilities and treatment of potable water on board vessels.
Its product portfolio includes UV disinfection systems, water treatment solutions, filter housings, filter cartridges and filter bags, automatic filters, chemical dosing systems, carbon filters, RO (reverse osmosis) systems, ventilation filters and potable water coolers. Filtra also delivers service, spare parts and maintenance for its products.
Filtra was established by mnaging director Osvald Ringstad in 2006. He will remain with the company until September 1, 2026, after which he will support Filtra as a consultant.
“After 20 years with Filtra, it is with both pride and a sense of sentiment that I prepare the company for its next chapter,” said Ringstad, 70. “The strong industrial fit with Redox is clear to see. We share a philosophy of being agile and of developing innovative solutions in close collaboration with our customers – delivering standard products where appropriate and tailored solutions when required.”
Staying in Skodje
Filtra AS will continue as a separate company, with its headquarters remaining in Skodje, in Aalesund municipality, Møre and Romsdal county, Norway. The plan is to build on the existing organisation, which currently consists of nine employees.
One of Redox’s ambitions is to further expand the service footprint that Filtra has established along the Norwegian coast, enabling the delivery of improved and more comprehensive service and maintenance offerings to companies in the aquaculture industry, the maritime sector and other industries.
Redox is acquiring 100% of the shares in Filtra, which reported revenues of approximately NOK 37 million in 2025. The parties have not disclosed the financial details of the transaction.
Redox’s majority owner is seafood investor Bluefront Equity.
