
Marine Harvest Chile would have lost up to US$ 20 million due to former manager

As stated in the brief, “the defendant, using information obtained because of his position, devised a business and persistently insisted in its implementation with the apparent intention of pursuing the interests of Marine Harvest and Salmones Tecmar, when his true motivation was personal gain and to take advantage, for his own benefit and that of the people he invited to participate in this business, of a commercial opportunity that resulted from the sanitary crisis produced by the ISA virus.” According to what the lawyer of the Norwegian affiliated salmon farming company, José Miguel Gana, the lawsuit is currently completing the period of discussion and the presentation of evidence will begin in the coming weeks, in order to indemnify for damages and return the patrimonial benefits obtained from such actions. Now, the company would be waiting for the court decision to present the evidence needed to accuse the former manager. Besides, the company expects a sentence on this civil lawsuit later this year or no later than the first half of 2014.
