
Marine Harvest Chile production decreased 91% in 3 years
According to Marine Harvest ASA its Chilean subsidiary reduced its production by 77.77% compared to 2Q 2009, when their sold volume was 9,000 tonnes. Nevertheless, this quarter result represent a slight recovery compared to the 1,000 tonnes that Marine Harvest Chile obtained in 1Q 2010.
Its global operations totalized harvests of salmonids for 68,000 tonnes (head on gutted or HOG) between April and June this year, in line with their expected volumes projected in 1Q 2010 but which implies a 18.07% decrease compared to the same period of 2009, when they harvested 83,000 tonnes.
Norway leads the company’s results with 48,000 tonnes harvested in the period, which represents a 2% decrease compared to 2Q 2009. Canada and Scotland are below with 7,000 tonnes each and representing 41.6% and 22.2% decreases compared to the same period of 2009, respectively. Chile closes the ranking with 2,000 tonnes.
This year, Marine Harvest expects sales for 4,000 tonnes from its Chilean subsidiary.
