Lowest salmon price of the year in Norway
With a drop of over four kroner, the spot price of Norwegian farmed salmon fell into the NOK 60s for the first time in 2026.
According to industry statistic provider Akvafakta, the spot price of salmon decreased by NOK 4.27 (£0.34) per kilokg in week 23, down to NOK 68.38 (£5.45) per kilo. That price is NOK 0.91/kg below the same week last year.
The average spot price so far this year is NOK 81.76/kg, compared to the equivalent of NOK 84.38/kg a year ago.
Exports
According to the Norwegian Seafood Council, 30,980 tonnes (round weight) of salmon were exported in week 23. This is approximately 10% more than the week before, and approximately 5% more than the same week in 2025.
So far this year, Norway has exported 632,000 tonnes of salmon (round weight), also 5% more than at the same time a year ago.
Feed
According to Akvafakta, 643,000 tonnes of salmon and trout feed were sold as of week 19. This is 2% more than at the same time last year.
The trend for the last four weeks (weeks 16-19) is up 1% from the same period last year.
Cod
According to the Seafood Council, 266 tonnes (round weight) of farmed cod were exported in week 23, with a price per kilo of NOK 77.37/kg.
From the previous week, there is an increase in price of NOK 3.06/kg and a decrease in volume of 14%.
Compared to the same week in 2025, the price is NOK 9.28/kg better and the volume is 13% better.
So far this year, 6,647 tonnes (whole weight) of farmed cod have been exported at an average price of NOK 74.73/kg. This is 11% less volume, but 13% better price than what was achieved in the same period last year.
