Salmon spot price dips as Norway breaks its weekly export record
According to sector statistics provider Akvafakta, the spot price of market influencing Norwegian farmed salmon decreased by NOK 2.03 (£0.16) per kilo last week (week 33), down to NOK 68.96 (£5.41) per kilo in the face of a record weekly export volume. The price had been rising for five weeks in a row before that.
Despite the dip, last week’s price was still NOK 11.23/kg higher than in the same week in 2025.
The average spot price so far this year is NOK 77.15/kg, compared to NOK 77.71/kg at the same time last year.
Exports
According to Akvafakta, Norway exported 39,991 tonnes (round weight) in week 33. Not only is that 7% more than the same week a year ago, but it is also the largest export volume of salmon for one week ever. The second highest volume is week 39 in 2024 with 39,503 tonnes.
So far this year, Norway has exported 997,000 tonnes of salmon, 4.6% more than in the same period last year.
Feed
As of week 29, 1.15 million tonnes of salmon and trout feed had been sold in Norway. This is a total of 8% up from the same period in 2025. For salmon, it is up 9%, while for trout it is down 9%.
The trend for the last four weeks (weeks 16-29) is 7% up overall.
Cod
According to the Norwegian Seafood Council, the export price of farmed cod in week 33 was NOK 84.76 (£6.65) per kilo, up by NOK 0.17 from the previous week. The price is NOK 13.95/kg better than the same week in 2025.
The average export price for farmed cod so far this year is NOK 77.60/kg, compared to NOK 67.29/kg in the corresponding period last year.
Norway exported 219 tonnes (round weight) of farmed cod in week 33, down 38% from the previous week, and nearly halved in two weeks.
So far this year, 9,808 tonnes (round weight) of farmed cod have been exported, which is 6% more than in the same period a year ago.
