SalMar looks to future in two-vessel deal with Frøy
SalMar and shipping company Frøy are expanding their long-standing collaboration with an agreement for a new wellboat and a new service vessel, reported Fish Farming Expert's Norwegian sister site Kyst.no.
The new vessels will be part of SalMar's operational fleet and have been developed based on lessons learned from current operations, as well SalMar's future needs, with particular emphasis on fish welfare, biosecurity and efficient operations, according to the companies.
Frøy and SalMar have collaborated for a number of years. For Frøy, the new agreements mean a further focus on modern vessel solutions and development of the services the company delivers to the aquaculture industry.
Best solutions

New demands
SalMar sees the new vessels as part of the company’s long-term work to develop its operations.

Development work
The agreements are the result of development work and dialogue between the companies over time, said Frøy commercial director Vidar Pedersen.
“One of the most valuable things about the collaboration between Frøy and SalMar is that we not only discuss current needs, but also what the industry will look like in the future.
“Such projects require a long-term perspective, a willingness to invest and the ability to see opportunities together.”
The wellboat is currently under construction at the Murueta shipyard in Spain.
