The company’s 2014 results, which were published yesterday, show that revenues were up by 53% compared to 2013 and Anderson has been quick to praise the company’s employees for achieving such good figures, despite facing a number of challenges.

“We have no peers in the farming business,” he reflects, “and the training we offer in both our marine and freshwater operations is second to none. Although there have been a number of biological challenges this year posed by the warmer water temperatures, if there’s a problem we don’t panic and we’ve managed to come through a difficult 2014 on top,” he told Fish Farming Expert.

He also touts the provenance of their fish and the fact that they’re a market-led company as being vital to their success.

“We only farm in Scotland – we’ve no parent company tugging on our shirtsleeves telling us what to do – and we are proudly Scottish,” he explains.

“The Scottish providence also helps with our marketing,” he adds. And, given that the company exported salmon to 23 countries in 2014, up from 17 countries the previous year, he seems to have a valid point.

What’s more, with plans to incrementally increase production in the coming years, he sees a stable future for the company.

“We’re now consistently producing over 30,000 tonnes per year and we have a planned growth strategy to increase by an extra 2000 tonnes per year for the next few years, which will allow us to build long term relationships with our customers,” he concludes.
