Steep rise in salmon spot prices
The spot price of Norwegian salmon jumped significantly last week. Volumes remained good.
The spot price of market-influencing Norwegian farmed salmon rose by NOK 14.04 (£1.08) per kilo in week 6, up to NOK 91.00 (£7.03), according to industry statistics provider Akvafakta.
That price that is NOK 4.48/kg above the same week last year.
The average spot price so far this year is NOK 84.86/kg, compared to NOK 101.04/kg in the same period a year ago.
Export volume
According to the Norwegian Seafood Council, 20,090 tonnes (round weight) of salmon were exported in week 6. That is about 3% less than the week before, but 16.5% more than the same week in 2025.
So far this year, 157,000 tonnes (round weight) of salmon have been exported, also up 16.5% from the same period last year.
Feed
145,000 tonne of salmon and trout feed were sold per week in Norway as of week 4, an increase of 11% from the same period in 2025.
Cod
In week 6, 342 tonnes (round weight) of farmed cod were exported, up 5% from the same week last year.
The price received was NOK 72.86/kg, which is NOK 0.3/kg less than the week before, but NOK 4.49/kg more than the same week in 2025.
So far, 1,761 tonnes of farmed cod (round weight) have been exported, up 6.1% from the same period a year ago.
