With installation and testing complete, the project is entering a phase of test production at the Horsvågen site in Hamarøy, northern Norway.

According to Aquafarm Equipment, the facility is ready to receive fish this week, and test cycles will start from the end of January.

"As we now complete the delivery of the Aquafarm to Cermaq, we are moving into test production. At the same time, we are proud of the experiences the project has given us," the company writes in an update.

Important lessons learned

Through its work with the facility in Horsvågen, Aquafarm Equipment particularly highlights the importance of stable and controlled operating conditions.

“Real-world performance at sea means everything. Controlled intake water, robust environmental systems and predictable conditions are not theoretical solutions, but the very foundation for successful operations,” the company says.

Furthermore, the supplier points to close collaboration with fish farmers as a crucial factor.

"The collaboration with a leading manufacturer like Cermaq has shown how important common goals and open communication are for good implementation," writes Aquafarm Equipment.

Aquafarm Equipment's closed facility was towed from Harstad to Cermaq's location in Horsvågen.

Ready for fish

The plant was launched into the water in Harstad in November before being towed to Cermaq's Horsvågen site, where it has recently undergone extensive testing, system adjustments and completion of technical installations.

Now that phase is complete, and the next step is test deployment and production.

"From testing to production: Horsvågen is now ready to receive fish and start test cycles," the company states.

The closed cage is the fourth in a series from Aquafarm Equipment, and builds on the company's experience with deep water intake, controlled water flow and solutions for stable water quality in the sea.

The project is taking place in close collaboration between Aquafarm Equipment and Cermaq.
