Mainstream will invest on fish farms in Magallanes
The project considers the construction and operation of a seawater salmon farm, with a maximum of production estimated of 2.500 ton by cycle in the fifth year.
The company will install 40 rectangular cages, occupying a total approximate volume of 16.000 m2.
The number of smolts to get in will change according to the requirements of production, and according the technical project. The smolts will get in into the farm with an average weight of 100 gr.
Mainstream considers three months of a resting period in the farm site, which will allow the company to make the maintenance of the place; to provide a resting period to the farm and for helping to the recovery of the fauna.
This project is being qualified by the Chilean environmental authorities.
