
Mainstream headed the Chilean salmon exports in January
The main explanation for this improved results rely on the increased harvests of Coho salmon and Rainbow trout obtained by Mainstream in the period according to the statistic consultant company InfoTrade. The general manager of InfoTrade, Alejandro Henríquez, explained that both species experienced important increases in their prices, 10.5% and 17% respectively.
AquaChile arrived in second place in the ranking of largest Chilean salmon exporting companies, after exporting USD 41.6 million in January 2011, figure that represented a 22% improvement compared to the first month of 2010, reports the Chilean newspaper El Mercurio.
Australis Mar and Marine Harvest Chile are among the local companies who experienced largest increases in their January 2011 results. Australis Mar exported USD 17.3 million, which represent a 392% increase compared to January 2010; while Marine Harvest Chile exported USD 16.4 million, registering a 251% improvement.
