The project, submitted to the Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA), would be located nearby Llanquihue, in the 10th Region of Los Lagos.

This new smolt farm would operate with a flow-through water system and would be dedicated to the production of 8.5 million smolts per year, equivalent to 1,020 tonnes of fish. The total investment of this project would be close to US$ 8.5 million.

Francisco Miranda, general manager of Mainstream Chile, said that considering the size of this project, the characteristics of the location and operations under a preventive concept, this new smolt farm should not generate significant adverse effects on the quantity and/or quality of the local renewable natural resources, including soil, water and air.
