The vice-president of Pesquera Friosur, Carlos Vial, explained that his company is not producing salmon in the Magellan Region yet, but they do have presented some applications for aquaculture authorizations and it is very possible for them to move there in the future.

According to the financial journal Estrategia, Pesquera Friosur currently operates aquaculture licenses in the 11th Region (Aysén) and the company has no plans of retaking its Coho salmon production yet.

So far, there are between 50 and 60 aquaculture licenses approved in the Magellan Region but only 15 of them are being used. All these licenses were granted years ago, before the moratorium established over salmon farming in that region 3 years ago.
