There is likely to be an agreement on a 25 per cent tax on the farming companies, after the government reached an agreement with the parties Venstre and Pasientfokus. Two of the parties in opposition have nevertheless demanded that the voting take place before all the representatives in the Storting, to check whether any representatives from the governing parties are willing to vote against their own proposal.

Another political party, Rødt, which originally wanted a tax rate for the fish farmers of 48 per cent, said on Tuesday that they will vote yes to the government's proposal, to ensure that the salmon tax is passed in the Storting.
