SalMar chairman buys drones for Ukrainian military unit
Free Ukraine has delivered 100 drones to the Third Assault Brigade in "Operation Kvarv". Half of the NOK 5 million cost is covered by Kvarv, the family company of Gustav Witzøe.
The recipient is the Third Assault Brigade, a unit operating in the Kharkiv region near the front line in Ukraine, reports Fish Farming Expert's Norwegian sister site, Kyst.no.
Half of the delivery, paid for with a donation of NOK 2.5 million given by Gustav Witzøe and the family company Kvarv AS on Frøya. The other half was collected by Ukrainian donors.

"We have made contributions to Ukraine several times through Peter Christian Frølich, Natalia and the rest of the volunteers in Free Ukraine," said Gustav Witzøe.
"No one can do everything, but everyone can do a little to help, hence our donation. Stand for Free Ukraine," adds Witzøe, chairman of the world's second largest Atlantic salmon farmer, SalMar, which co-owns Scottish Sea Farms.
"We greatly appreciate the contribution from Witzøe, and all the many others who contribute to Ukraine's freedom struggle," said Free Ukraine secretary general Natalia Golis.
Seeing in the dark
The delivery includes thermal imaging drones of the Mavic 3T type, which give the forces better capacity to detect and track enemy movements, even in the dark.
“This type of targeted support has a great impact directly on the front line. The drones will contribute to better monitoring, coordination and protection of the soldiers,” said Golis.
The 83rd delivery
The first drones from Operation Kvarv were delivered as part of Free Ukraine's 83rd consignment last month.
In addition to the drones, five vehicles were delivered at the same time, three of which were Mercedes Vito vans from Eviny in Bergen. Eviny also delivered ten powerful Eco-Flow portable power stations.
Clothing for the department in the air force that operates the F-16 aircraft from Norway were also included. These uniforms are of very high quality.
