Norway salmon spot price creeps upwards

The spot price of Norwegian salmon inched up by NOK 0.92 last week (week 41) to NOK 78.95 (£5.88) per kilo, said industry statistics provider Akvafakta.

That price is NOK 7.99/kg above the same week last year.

As the world’s biggest producer of salmon, Norway has a significant influence on global prices.

The average spot price so far of Norwegian salmon this year is NOK 95.01/kg, compared to NOK 84.19/kg in the first 41 weeks of last year.

Norway exported 34,322 tonnes of salmon (round weight) last week. This is approximately 2% lower than the week before, and it is 4% lower than the same week in 2022.

So far this year, Norway has exported 1.06 million tonnes of salmon, 2.5% less than at the same time last year.
