The Kingfish Company today announced that co-founder and chief technology officer Kees Kloet will transition into a new advisory role in the company, effective from 1 August.

The Netherlands-based fish farmer said Kloet will continue to provide crucial support and counsel to the management team and the supervisory board as the company continues to develop.

“Mr Kloet’s importance for The Kingfish Company’s success cannot be overstated. We are deeply grateful for his dedication and valuable contribution throughout the years, and we are pleased he will continue to support our team as a trusted advisor,” said chief executive Vincent Erenst.

Role shared out

The Kingfish Company, which is expanding capacity from 1,500 to 3,500 tonnes annually at its recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility in Zeeland, added that Kloet’s chief technology officer role will be split and transferred to other people in the management team as part of an ongoing streamlining of management.

Kloet’s move follows the decision by co-founder Ohad Maiman to step down from his role as chief executive in October last year. He also took on an advisory role.

The Kingfish Company grows seriola lalandi, known as yellowtail kingfish, also known as ricciola, hiramasa, or greater amberjack.

As well as the Zeeland operation, the company has secured full permission for an 8,500-tonne kingfish RAS facility in Maine in the northeast of the United States and has already produced some fish for market at a rented facility in the state.
