See Bakkafrost's new feed barge
The barge built by GroAqua is designed to withstand harsh conditions in exposed locations.
The new feed barge Litlagjogv is on its way from Poland to the Faroe Islands.
The barge will arrive at the Arnafjørdur site on Monday, said Jon Purkhus, operations manager at Bakkafrost.
"It will be placed on a exposed site, which produces just over 7,000 tonnes per cycle," he told Fish Farming Expert's Norwegian sister site, Kyst.no.

The feed barge was built in Szczecin by GroAqua, which has produced several barges for Bakkafrost.
"It is the same type of barge that we have received previously, but is slightly smaller. It is equipped with 20 feed lines and holds 700 tonnes of feed."
The barge is built to withstand harsh weather conditions and operate in exposed locations, and will be unmanned with full control from shore.
World's biggest
Earlier in the summer GroAqua delivered what it describes as the world's largest feed barge to Bakkafrost. It holds 1,100 tonnes and has 24 lines, making it possible to feed 24 cages simultaneously.
Another one of this type will be delivered to Bakkafrost in the autumn.
"It is going to the Lambavik site, which produces around 10,000 tonnes per cycle and which is also an exposed site," explained Purkhus.
GroAqua has previously stated that it was building three of this large barge type that will be delivered to the aquaculture industry in 2025.
The company was founded in 1972 in the Faroe Islands and has expanded internationally in recent years and established itself in Scotland, Denmark, and Poland.
In January 2024, Havida from Brønnøysund and GroAqua from the Faroe Islands merged to form a company that now has more than 100 employees.
The company specialises in delivering large-scale feed barges to highly exposed locations.
