UV expert hired to spearhead Norwegian firm's UK sales push

Norwegian water treatment specialist Aquaservice has appointed a UK sales director and opened a new office, warehouse, and commissioning centre in Oxfordshire as it seeks to expand in the UK and Europe.

Chief executive Asgeir Skogstad described the hiring of UK sales director Duncan Ockendon – who will have overall responsibility for the Aquaservice UV-range - as “a scoop”.

Ockendon has a degree in Applied Chemistry from the University of Hertfordshire and entered the UV (ultraviolet) industry in 2003. From the start, he became involved in the aquatics sector, owing to the rapid adoption of UV treatment of swimming pool water for the control of combined chlorine and protection against chlorine-resistant pathogens, such as Cryptosporidium.

'Perfect for us'

For many years, he also supported Ocea/Steinsvik/Scale AQ for the sales of UV equipment into the Norwegian aquaculture market. He has wide international experience from various large corporations and comes from the position of aquatics sales manager UK & Ireland at Evoqua Water Technologies.

“We are thrilled to have Duncan aboard. His experience and knowledge is perfect for us moving heavily into the UK and European UV-market. And this UV-push combined with our unique Aquafilter technology looks to be a very potent combination,” said Skogstad.

The company’s recently registered subsidiary, Aquaservice Water Engineering UK Ltd, is located at Chinnor, Oxfordshire, and has a modern office space, warehouse operations, and a dedicated technical support and commissioning centre - all designed to better serve customers across the UK and Europe, and with a strong focus on the Scottish aquaculture market.
