The challenges and opportunities posed by the increased use of recirculation systems in the salmonid aquaculture industry is the key theme of the seminar that Salmonview media – the brand that unites Fish Farming Expert, Salmon Expert and Norsk Fiskeoppdrett/kyst.no – is running at Aquaculture Europe 2016.

The EAS event is taking place in Edinburgh on 21st-23rd September and the Salmonview seminar is scheduled for 14.30 – 17.30 on Thursday 22nd.

Talks are set to include a number of high profile producers, including the manager of Scotland’s largest RAS hatchery and the head of a new company that has been established in grow market-sized salmon in pioneering land-based recirc systems.

Two of the world’s key RAS equipment providers will also be taking part, while international feed and fish health experts will be delivering talks on the importance of using specially adapted diets and tips on best husbandry practice respectively.

There is also scheduled to be a talk on transgenic salmon, one of the hottest talking points in the industry in recent years, and the opportunities these offer to grow quickly and economically in land-based systems.

With speakers from Scotland, England, the Netherlands, Norway, the USA and Chile the seminar is going to have a truly international flavour, offering a global perspective that is in line with Salmonview's world-wide coverage.

We very much look forward to welcoming EAS delegates to Lammermuir II, and urge you all to keep an eye out for a one-off special issue of Fish Farming Expert, which is going to be part of the welcome package that all EAS attendees receive, and is set to feature articles from all our speakers.
