Bakkafrost Scotland harvested 6,600 tonnes of salmon in Q2

Faroese-owned Bakkafrost Scotland – formerly called the Scottish Salmon Company - harvested 6,600 gutted weight tonnes of Atlantic salmon in Scotland in the second quarter of this year, it said in a market update today.

The harvest comprised 2,400 gwt from Bakkafrost Scotland’s northern region and 4,200 gwt from the southern region.

The division’s harvest volume for the same period last year was 10,634 gwt.

Faroe Islands

Bakkafrost also harvested 13,100 gwt in the Faroe Islands – 4,800 gwt in the north, 3,100 gwt in the west and 5,200 gwt in the south. The volume is also than in Q2 2021, when Bakkafrost harvested 17,561 gwt in the Faroes.

The company’s total Q2 2022 harvest volume was 19,700 gwt, compared to 28,200 gwt in Q2 2021.

Feed sales by Bakkafrost’s in-house feed producer Havsbrún in Q2 2022 were 31,200 tonnes. Havsbrún sourced 97,600 tonnes of raw materials in the period.
