Salmon spot price stays low

The spot price of Norwegian salmon stayed low last week, with little sign of a Christmas bounce.

According to salmon data provider Akvafakta, the spot price rose by 53 øre (cents) in week 50 and ended at NOK 40.77 (£3.48) per kilo.

That is a NOK 27.25 lower than during the same week last year.

The average spot price for the year so far is NOK 54.15 / kg, compared to NOK 56.38 / kg last year.

Export jump

Norway exported 32,668 tonnes (round weight) in week 49, which is 16.8% more than the same week in 2019.

A total of 1.21 million tonnes of salmon have now been exported from Norway this year, 0.8% more than at the same point last year.
