The recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility, located near Warsaw, is co-owned by Israeli RAS developer AquaMaof Aquaculture Technologies Ltd and Singapore-based 8F Asset Management, which is funding Pure Salmon.

The RAS, which produces around 450 tonnes of salmon annually, operates as both a commercial business and as an R&D and training centre for AquaMaof and Pure Salmon.

Lengthy audit

“We’re thrilled to announce that after a lengthy and successful audit we’ve received the ASC certification,” said Pure Salmon Poland chief executive Eran Huppert in a press release.

“With environmental awareness growing among our clients and consumers, it was very important for us to obtain this certification to back our commitment to producing the highest-quality fish in the most responsible way.”

Pure Salmon Poland, formerly Global Fish, was established as a salmon in 2016 and consistently produces and markets Atlantic salmon of 4kg and above.

260,000 tonnes

It is also the first of a series of facilities being developed by Pure Salmon and 8F Asset Management, with additional projects either under way or on the drawing board in Japan, France, America, China, South East Asia and Africa.

Pure Salmon intends to produce 260,000 tonnes of salmon per year, using AquaMaof’s RAS technology and design.

AquaMaof is also currently using Pure Salmon Poland to carry out trials and experiments to enhance the technology’s sustainability and streamline operations, as well as a global training centre to train staff on operating and maintaining the technology.
