Lumpfish prove popular for vaccine producers

Sales of vaccines for marine fish in October were 1,080,000 doses compared to 620,000 in the same month of 2014. The twelve months' rolling sales figure has climbed from 5.4 million doses in October 2014 to 10.6 million vaccine doses this month. This positive trend is associated with the increasing the production of lumpfish.

According to figures released by Pharmaq today, vaccine sales to salmon in October were 32.9 million doses, down from 35.5 million in October 2014.

When adding 22 million doses from the September vaccination, the total sales to S1-2016 by end October were 55 million doses. The vaccination of the S1-2016 continues into May next year.

October sales to trout ended at 1.9 million doses, down from 2.6 million doses in October 2014. The twelve months' rolling sales of vaccines to trout are 20 million doses up to the end of October.

Total sales of vaccines against pancreas necrosis (PD) were 12.9 million doses, 6.3 million of which were of a 7-component PD-vaccine compared to a total of 15.6 million doses in October 2014.

The October sales also include 1.2 million doses of a 7-component ISA-vaccine, which takes the  twelve month rolling sales figure to 6.3 million doses.
