In an application to the Environmental Assessment Service, the company said it needs extra production capacity to meet a growing overseas demand for its finished chilled and frozen products. It plans to increase the volume of products (fillets or whole) from 70,000 to 90,000 units per day, a rise of almost 29%.
The average number of employees at the plant will be 450, rising to 1,300 at times of peak production.
Improvements for staff include a new staff restaurant which has a service capacity of approximately 1,000 to 1,300 people daily in three shifts.
A personnel area will have changing facilities, showers, and washrooms.
Work on the plant is expected to start in the second half of 2023.
