The president of the Association of Producers of Coho Salmon and Rainbow trout or Acotruch, Julio Traub, considers that there is no scientific, economic or legal basis behind those decisions. He stressed that there are not enough inland hatcheries in Chile or the technical and economic capacity to build the required facilities to produce smolts enough to supply the needs of the industry in the pursuit of its production recovery.

According to Diario Financiero, Traub also commented that these sanitary measures specially harm the small-size companies and medium-size companies, putting lots of jobs in jeopardy.

Finally, the president of Acotruch said that it is important that Authority recognize that the interests of the big companies and the small companies are rather different.
