"We are committed to only selling seafood from MSC-certified fisheries and ASC certified farms from late August 2015. The sale is increasing steadily in our restaurants," says Jorunn Stokke Aamodt, communications specialist for Ikea Norway.

For reasons related to competition Ikea will not go public on sales figures either from the food counters or in their restaurants.

"Ikea Food undergoes a process which strengthens the range, operations and organization to meet the growing demand. We want to enhance the whole dining experience by improving the venues," says the communications specialist.

She says that Ikea's philosophy is all about creating a better everyday life for the many people.

"According to WWF, about three billion people use wild and farmed seafood as their main protein source. And what is good for people, is also good for Ikea. In our sustainability strategy document People & Planet Positive we declare that ingredients we use comes from sustainable sources and are certified by an external control body," explains Stokke Aamodt.

She adds that the salmon sold in their Norwegian shops is harvested and packed in Norway.
