FrioSur’s chairman expects a bad 2010
According to the local newspaper El Divisadero, del Río expressed that “this difficult moment wasn’t mainly perceived in 2009 -among other reasons- due to ISA virus, which motivated several producers to early harvest and hence that allowed a high employment rate. However, the big crisis comes now in 2010 because as long as we know sowings are no more than 10% or 15% of what they used to be, reducing production. Therefore, we will have a hard 2010 and even a hard 2011 if our country doesn’t decide to face this issue seriously”.
Likewise, he called on the parliamentarians and Governmental authorities to answer this problem, detailing that Intendant Carrasco showed a good reception “he understands that this is a difficult business; that this is a small region where we all know each other and that if we are liable to act together, we will be able to approach this issue on a practical way to give a job to the people of this region” he said.
In turn, FrioSur’s Human Resources manager Mónica Montecinos stated that “this problem will be notorious in our community, which is small and where 100 or 200 unemployed workers are hugely noticed, even more if we multiply that figure by their family groups”, explaining that currently they are focused on training programs for those people.
