Sefine Shipyard in Turkey has posted a video of the new wellboat Inter Alba, which will be the largest such vessel operating in Scotland, and one of the biggest in the world.

Inter Alba has now been delivered to owner Trident Aqua Services and is due to enter service for salmon farmer Mowi Scotland.

In a post on LinkedIn, Trident chief executive Arild Aasmyr said the delivery from Sefine marked an important milestone.

“With advanced fish welfare systems, hybrid propulsion and an innovative design by Salt Ship Design AS, Inter Alba sets a strong benchmark for sustainable and efficient aquaculture logistics,” wrote Aasmyr.

“Thank you to everyone involved – we look forward to seeing Inter Alba in operation.”

6,500m³ capacity

Inter Alba has a well volume of 6,500 cubic metres, and a reverse osmosis plant that can produce 15,000m³ of desalinated water per day for freshwater treatments to mitigate sea lice infestation and amoebic gill disease.

The vessel has a diesel-electric propulsion system and hybrid energy infrastructure with a battery capacity of 1,000 kWh to provide high efficiency and low emissions, and dynamic positioning enables Inter Alba to hold a safe position in dynamic conditions.
