Alsaker acquires Bolaks
Privately-owned salmon farmers agree deal
Alsaker writes that its purchase will create by far the largest privately-owned fish farming operation in western Norway.
Alsaker and Bolaks will together have more than 25,000 tonnes of maximum allowed biomass in production areas 2 and 3 and will constitute a strong locally owned aquaculture player with strong roots in many local communities in western Norway. The production potential of the combined group will exceed 50,000 tonnes.
Significant operational benefits
According to a press release, the business will benefit from a shared and fully integrated value chain and will be able to optimise the utilisation of hatchery facilities, locations, wellboats, service boats and slaughterhouse. Alsaker writes that it is convinced that the acquisition will secure local jobs and trigger significant operational benefits throughout the entire value chain.
Bolaks writes that it is pleased to announce that through this transaction it is securing the company's operations and further investment in Bjørnafjorden.
"As part of Alsaker, which we know as a well-run fish farming group, Bolaks will be stronger and have good development opportunities going forward," said chief executive Grunde Bruland. The purchase is subject to approval from relevant competition authorities.
DNB Carnegie was financial advisor and Simonsen Vogt Wiig was legal advisor to Alsaker. Schjødt law firm and Law.no law firm were legal advisors to the sellers.
