It is the Norwegian company’s first foray into the Iranian market and the 320-tonne capacity barge will be delivered to a site in the Persian Gulf operated by Niksa Co, outside Gorzeh, just north of Kish Island.

Akva group has designed and delivered the complete farm, which is due to be completed by the end of the year and is based largely on the same proven technical concepts as are used in the salmon industry.

As well as the barge, the set-up Includes 24 Polarcirkel plastic cages, nets, moorings, a Quattro feed system, underwater camera system and work boats. In order to ensure professional dimensioning and engineering, the group carried out a detailed pre-project site survey, including current measurements, wave modelling and bathymetric survey.

The Norwegian Standard NS9415;2009 has been applied throughout the design and delivery project to ensure all safety margins are included and the biomass is secure. Training of the customer’s farm personnel is also a key part of the partnership with Niksa.
