Decrease in salmon spot price

The spot price of Norwegian farmed salmon continued to decline last week and if the trend continues it will soon be in the NOK 70s.

According to sector data provider Akvafakta, the spot price of market-influencing Norwegian salmon decreased by NOK 4.38 per kilo last week (week 15), down to NOK 81.84 (£6.42) per kilo.

The price has therefore fallen for four weeks in a row.

However, it is NOK 4.21/kg above the same week last year.

The average spot price so far this year is NOK 86.19/kg, compared to NOK 90.04/kg at the same time a year ago.

Exports

According to the Norwegian Seafood Council, 26,555 tonnes (round weight) of salmon were exported from Norway in week 15. This is 14.5% less than the same week in 2025. However, keep in mind that this year's week 15 was the week after Easter and in Norway had only four regular working days.

So far, this year Norway has exported 398,000 tonnes (round weight) of salmon, an increase of just under 4% from last year.

Feed

As of week 11, 363,000 tonnes of salmon and trout feed had been sold in Norway, approximately the same as the same period a year ago.

The trend for the last four weeks (weeks 8 to 11) is 5% down from last year.

Cod

There were 231 tonnes (round weight) of farmed cod exported from Norway in week 15, up 18% from the previous week, but down by 45 tonnes from the same week in 2025.

To date, 4,219 tonnes (round weight) of farmed cod have been exported in 2026, down 22% from the same period last year.

The export price for farmed cod in week 15 was NOK 73.73/kg. This is up NOK 3.34/kg from the week before, but NOK 9.35/kg down from the same week a year ago.
