Faroes and Scotland salmon farmer Bakkafrost harvested 73,000 gutted weight tonnes of fish in 2023, it said in a trading update today.

The total harvest for 2023 in the Faroe Islands was 52,400 gwt and in Scotland it was 20,600 gwt.

In the final quarter of last year, Bakkafrost harvested 16,000 gwt in the Faroes and just 1,100 gwt in Scotland, following a decision to postpone some harvesting in Scotland until the current quarter to take advantage of good growth conditions.

Bakkafrost’s feed subsidiary, Havsbrún, sold 39,400 tonnes of feed in Q4 and sourced 53,600 tonnes of raw materials. The company sold 127,800 tonnes of feed in 2023 and sourced 467,100 tonnes of marine raw materials.
