Spot price of Norway salmon jumps as volumes fall like autumn leaves

The spot price of market-dominating Norwegian salmon increased last week (week 37) by NOK 5.89 (£0.44) per kilo, up to NOK 70.72 (£5.28) per kilo, according to industry statistics provider Akvafakta.

For the first time since February, that price was above the corresponding week the previous year, by NOK 3.22/kg.

The average price so far this year is NOK 76.17/kg, compared to the equivalent of NOK 99.20/kg in 2024.

Export volumes

Norway exported 36,133 tonnes (round weight) of salmon in week 37. This is 5.3% down from the previous week, in a period when it normally increases.

So far this year, Norway has exported 1.1 million tonnes of salmon, 19.8% more than in the same period in 2024.

Feed sales

As of week 33, 1.3 million tonnes of feed had been sold, 12% more than at the same time last year.

The trend for the four weeks from weeks 30 to 33 is 3% lower than the same period a year ago.
