Ozone systems maker will supply units for seven new wellboats
Normex AS has entered into an agreement with Norwegian shipbuilder Aas Mekaniske Verksted for the delivery of ozone systems for seven wellboats, newbuild numbers 215–221. Deliveries will take place on an ongoing basis until the final system is handed over on February 2, 2027.
Aas Mekaniske Verksted specialises in the development and construction of modern wellboats, and has built more than 40 vessels for wellboat operator Sølvtrans.
“This is an important contract for us, and we are very proud to be working with Aas Mekaniske Verksted. The project confirms our expertise and capacity in the development and delivery of advanced ozone systems,” said Stig Ove Johansen, managing director of Normex AS, which is based in Ålesund.
Efficient disinfection
The ozone systems will contribute to efficient and environmentally friendly disinfection of wells and pipework on board the wellboats. The technology has been developed to reduce the need for chemicals and to support modern requirements for biosecurity, fish welfare, and sustainable operations in the aquaculture industry.
Normex said its agreement with Aas Mekaniske Verksted represents a significant project and strengthens its position as a supplier of advanced solutions to the maritime industry and aquaculture sector.
“We are pleased to be working with Normex AS on this project. Their solutions will make an important contribution to the development of modern wellboats with high standards for quality, operational reliability and fish welfare,” said Hans Inge Aas, chief technical officer at Aas Mekaniske Verksted.
