The lack of growth in salmon volumes resulted in very high prices during 2016.

Prices push upwards

The export price of Norwegian salmon rose by 2.5% to reach an average of €7.32 (£6.16) per kilo in week 48, according to the latest figures released by Fish Pool.

Up to the end of week 47 Norway has exported 729,707 tonnes of salmon, down 7% on the same period last year. Meanwhile, the country has exported 36,934 tonnes of trout, up by 31% compared to the first 47 weeks of 2015.

Overall the country has produced 1,353,737 tonnes of salmon and 89,363 tonnes of trout so far this year.
