Management consulting and executive recruitment company Seafood People has appointmented Rasmus M. Bjånesøy as manager in its growing strategy consulting practice.

Seafood People said Bjånesøy brings extensive experience from PwC, where he was part of the strategy team working closely with seafood clients both in Norway and internationally.

Bjånesøy, who was raised in Austevoll within a salmon-farming family,  has built a strong track record as a strategic advisor to companies of all sizes across the seafood value chain, added Seafood People.

His experience spans production, supplier segments, and innovation-driven ventures. He has worked closely with executive teams to shape strategic direction, improve commercial performance, and unlock new growth opportunities.

A critical time

Bjånesøy's appointment comes just weeks after the Norwegian government proposed major changes to the way the salmon farming industry is regulated. Producers also have to navigate a trading landscape that includes US tariffs and a significantly increased supply of salmon this year.

Bjånesøy, who holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH), said: “This is a critical time for the sector, and I look forward to working alongside producers, suppliers, and other key stakeholders to drive meaningful change and long-term growth. More than ever, companies need trusted partners like Seafood People – with the capacity and competence to help navigate what’s next.”

Andreas de Vibe, consulting lead at Seafood People, said: “Rasmus brings a unique combination of strategic insight and deep industry knowledge. His experience, perspective, and commitment to the seafood sector will be a significant asset to our clients and our team. We are proud to welcome him on board.”
