Smoked salmon from Scotland fish farmer Loch Duart has been named Fish and Seafood Product of the Year at the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards just months after the product was launched.

Judges decided that Loch Duart smoked salmon, which is available in ‘Signature Smoke’ and ‘Double Smoked’ varieties, was the best tasting and best presented among four smoked salmon products.

Loch Duart managing director Mark Warrington said: “We are very proud of our new smoked salmon range, which was launched earlier this year and is already a favourite with top chefs and restaurants around the world.

“At Loch Duart we have always strived to raise the very best, premium, heritage breed Scottish salmon and we took particular care in creating a smoked product which highlighted the natural eating qualities of our fish that people already loved.

“I’d like to congratulate all the finalists in this year’s awards, it’s a real honour to be part of the Scottish food and drink sector, which is valued and sought out by food lovers across the globe for its quality, taste and provenance.”

Last night’s award ceremony was hosted by broadcaster and journalist Kirsty Wark at Glasgow’s DoubleTree by Hilton hotel.
