Norwegian salmon farmer Kvarøy Fiskeoppdrett has appointed a new chief executive of its sales subsidiary Kvarøy Arctic in the United States.

Rune Mikalsen switches from his previous role as chief financial officer of Kvarøy Fiskeoppdrett to his new job which entails overseeing the company’s operations, sales and marketing strategies, and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, distributors, and retailers.

“I am thrilled to join Kvarøy Arctic and have the opportunity to lead the expansion in the USA,” said Rune Mikalsen in a press release. “Kvarøy Arctic's commitment to sustainable aquaculture, product excellence, and environmental stewardship aligns perfectly with my own values.

“I look forward to working closely with the talented team at Kvarøy Arctic to bring the exceptional taste and quality of Norwegian salmon to even more American consumers.”

Ideal leader

Kvarøy Fiskeoppdrett chief Alf-Gøran Knutsen said Mikalsen’s two decades of experience in the seafood industry and passion for sustainable practices made him the ideal leader to drive the company’s growth and strengthen its position in the American market.

“We are confident that under Rune’s guidance, Kvarøy Arctic will continue to excel,” said Knutsen.

Mikalsen is replaced as CFO by Freddy Olcese, who joined Kvarøy Arctic last year as vice president of finance after 11 years as CFO of AquaChile and has been a strategic partner with Mikalsen.
