Maritech said the acquisition was part of its strategy for growth through expansion in the value chain, functionality, and geography.

“We are delighted to welcome EDI-Systems as the newest members of the Maritech team,” said Odd Arne Kristengård, acting chief executive of Maritech, in a press release.

“Their solutions, customers and expertise are a natural fit with our business and further plans. Many of our customers already use their systems; they will benefit from an improved cold storage integration. EDI- Systems also delivers solutions for quality registration for fisheries and that likewise will be a good fit in the Maritech product range.”

New milestones

EDI Systems founders Robert Hansen (chief executive) and Are Selnes (chief technology officer) both work in the company and have until now each had a 50% ownership interest. “We are proud of what we have built and are now looking forward to new milestones as part of Maritech,” said Hansen.

The company’s main product is the EDI Lagerhotell service, which is specially adapted for providers of cold storage capacity for receiving and storing fish and fish products.

In recent years, the company’s main focus has been labelling, scanning and electronic message exchange.

Maritech develops and delivers digital tools that streamline and increase profitability for seafood businesses, including solutions for trading, automation and traceability. It is owned by aquaculture investment company Broodstock Capital Partners, which also has stakes in on-land fish farm supplier Billund Aquaculture, fish health service Åkerblå, net washer maker MPI and water treatment technology supplier NP Innovation.
