The first incident occurred at a Balta Island Seafare site off Unst, in the Shetland Isles, where a fish from a pen which averaged salmon of 3.6kg escaped on September 7th. Meanwhile a salmon of 2kg escaped from a Marine Harvest site at Ardmaddy, in Argyll, which contained lumpsuckers, wrasse and salmon, on September 15th.

Human error was blamed for both incidents – the first reported escapes that have taken place in Scotland since June.
