Healthy meals

“Everyone should be able to enjoy healthy meals at home and we wanted to accomplish that without having to sacrifice on quality or convenience,” said Daniel Del Coro, head of US business development for Salmones Austral.

The launch includes a Secret Island website where consumers can find new recipes, techniques, and flavour profiles.

Secret Island said in a press release that it had also launched a chef ambassador programme, featuring original recipes by top cooks.

Basic cooking skills

“The programme aims to provide creative and delicious Secret Island salmon recipes for the at-home chef using basic cooking skills and everyday ingredients,” said the company.

The first group of ambassadors includes Jose Garces, a chef and restauranteur known as a leading culinary authority of Spanish and Latin-American food; chefs Jeff McInnis and Janine Booth, operate restaurants in Manhattan, Miami, and Puerto Rico; and Ashleigh Shanti, a 2020 finalist for the James Beard “Rising Star Chef of the Year” award.

Salmones Austral produces between 45,000 and 55,000 tonnes of fish annually, of which 63% is Atlantic salmon and 37% coho.
