Marine Harvest Canada has filed a lawsuit against the anti-salmon farming activist Alexandra Morton for allegedly trespassing on three of their salmon farms in BC last month, according to CBC.

The decision follows Morton’s well publicised presence in the region over the summer, where she took part in a ‘fact-finding’ mission – supposedly in a bid to find evidence of piscine reovirus – aboard the Sea Shepherd’s vessel Martin Sheen.

CBC reports that, in the lawsuit, Marine Harvest alleges she and others trespassed on their Glacier Falls, Midsummer Island and Sonora Island operations without permission, intentionally tampered with the equipment and violated biosecurity procedures.

According to the Canadian broadcaster, the group is also accused of flying a drone and diving at one facility, using a GoPro camera to film salmon in the cages at another and ignoring Marine Harvest's instruction to leave.

Fish Farming Expert’s Laura Braden is currently in contact with MH Canada and is due to issue more details in a separate story.
